How Entrepreneurship Helps The Community
No matter what role you serve in the community — employer, employee, parent, student, visionary, consumer, or otherwise everyday citizen — you are impacted by entrepreneurship.
Think about this: 70% of job creation comes from startups and entrepreneurs .
Sure, entrepreneurship is a funnel to create businesses, which creates jobs that leads to market competition and more productivity and innovation, but this is just scratching the surface.
How do entrepreneurs help the community?
First, entrepreneurs make an effort to improve the quality of life around them.
Second, they are constantly assessing the needs of the community.
Supporting the local economy is more than building businesses and new ideas. Donnie Rodgers, Jr., Executive Director of Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street, sees how entrepreneurs serve the community on a daily basis: “Small business owners are the backbone of the growth we have seen here in Lee’s Summit.” Entrepreneurs are constantly paying attention to and involved with the next big ideas that are positively impacting the community.
Job growth in the community equals employees who are paying taxes, buying gas and groceries, finding housing, and becoming involved in the community. They are curiously exploring neighborhoods to find local shops to support and seeking out local restaurants that buy locally sourced food to feed hungry bellies.
Why should you get involved in the entrepreneurial community?
When you, the community leaders and citizens, ensure entrepreneurs have access to local support systems and an ecosystem to build and scale their businesses, the positive impact of a new business’s growth accelerates the value of Lee’s Summit.
